Kaka branded Lionel Messi a “genius” as he chose the Barcelona celebrity over Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo despite playing the Portuguese attacker at Real Madrid.
Messi, winner of a record six Ballons d’Or, and Ronaldo are considered as two of the greatest ever players, with disagreement frequently centred on who stands alone beneath the all time record.
Kaka played alongside Ronaldo in the Bernabeu involving 2009-13, but the 2007 Ballon d’Or winner picked Messi as his preferred option.
“I played Cristiano and he is really amazing, but I will go with Messi,” Kaka said when asked who he’d pick from Messi or Ronaldo through an Instagram Live Q&A for FIFA’s station.
“He is a genius, a pure gift. The way he plays is outstanding.”
