
Barcelona travelled to Portugal to face Benfica at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica for the second game of Groupe E of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League season.
The Catalans went into the game after a bad performance in the opening match of the group, losing 3-0 to Bayern Munich at home. Ronald Koeman’s men had another bad day on the field as they lost 3-0 to Benfica, shifting down to the bottom of their group.
Darwin Nunez scored a brace for Benfica, while Rafa Silva scored the other goal. For the first time in their history, Barcelona have lost the first two games of the UEFA Champions League season. Benfica drew at Dynamo Kyiv o the opening day of the campaign, and are now second in the group with four points, two behind leaders Bayern Munich.
